Utilities: Solar Power, Water System, TV, & Phone in Unique House For Sale

Power comes from a 480 watt solar array accessible from the "Tower".  These photovoltaic panels feed a battery bank in the Grotto, which then goes to a sine wave inverter to provide 110 AC to the entire house.  There are 2 backup generators for extra power such as running shop tools.  The system is adequate for general use but could be improved substantially by addition of more panels and extra inverter modules.  It is a modular system, easily upgraded and maintained by the owner.

Solar system controls are housed in a vented cabinet in the Grotto.  The system runs on 48 volts which feeds a modular Exeltech Sine Wave Inverter which can be expanded up to 4,000 watts.  The backup battery charger is a 48 volt Bycan running off of the generator.  Any time the generator is used for working in the shop or other high current use, it simultaneously charges the battery bank.

TV comes in from an antennae located on top of the tower.  Currently I get 2 PBS stations and Fox.  I have in the past received up to 5 stations  including the previous plus NBC, ABC, and CBS.  I have an extra antennae that may be able to bring in the others, but I don't watch that much TV, so have not hooked them up and tried to work it out.

Phone and internet are from Verizon Wireless and both come in very clear from a nearby cell tower.  Internet is broadband wireless.  This whole web site has been created and maintained from the house.

Water comes from a spring fed pond.  It is gravity feed to the house from 2 underground pipes and has a full pressure system with filters in place, but not currently hooked up.  I will add photos as I get time.
